Official dates revealed for Water Polo Super Cup Men and Water Polo Super Cup Women
European Aquatics announced the dates for the Water Polo Super Cup Men and Water Polo Super Cup Women. The men’s match will be held on 5 October in Budapest, while the respective winners of the Champions League Women and Euro Cup Women are to clash on 18 October in Sabadell.
The Champions League Men 2023/2024 winners will host the respective Super Cup finals this season. Hungary’s FTC-Telekom, which returned to the top after five years by beating title-holder Recco in a thriller, will stage the big match on 5 October in Budapest.
Euro Cup Men holders Jug Dubrovnik of Croatia will fight to break the Champions League winner’s dominance of the fixture, with European Club Champions winning the Super Cup title 20 times since 2002. Only one Euro Cup-winning team has broken that grasp in the last 24 years, with the lone upset coming from Ferencvaros in 2018; who would go on to win back-to-back titles. Jug’s last Super Cup triumph dates back to 2016.
After winning its 7th Champions League Women title, Sabadell may add a 5th Super Cup trophy to its impressive cabinet. The Spanish side will take on Padova of Italy on 18 October in their home pool.
Interestingly, Sabadell have played six Super Cup finals, winning four and losing two, these defeats have come at the hands of Italian rivals, Pro Recco in 2011 and Orizzonte in 2019.
Both Super Cup matches will be streamed live on www.euroaquaticstv.com
