The 2024–25 polo season is set to conclude in style this Saturday with the prestigious EquestriMalta Cawnpore Cup, a highlight on the local equestrian calendar that promises an exciting afternoon of sport and celebration.
Hosted by the Malta Polo Club in partnership with EquestriMalta, the season finale will feature two key matches at the Marsa Polo Grounds, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The day opens with the Challenge Cup, where Team Finestral will take on Team cSociety across four fast-paced chukkas. Team CSociety will be captained by Jean Vella, who will be joined on the pitch by Rebecca Gera, Mike Vella, and Mark Darmanin. Leading Team Finestral is Chris Delia, with teammates Ivan Camilleri, Petra Vella, and Emma Ellul Vincenti.
The spotlight match, the Cawnpore Cup, gets underway at 7:00 p.m., pitting Team Alliance against Team Schweppes. Team Alliance will be led by Martin Arrigo, playing alongside Karl Galea, Matthew Borg, and Matthew Grech. Their opponents, Team Schweppes, feature Jeremy Besancon as captain, alongside Greg Gera, Bradley Farrugia, and Simon Psaila.
After the final whistle, players and spectators alike will gather to mark the end of a dynamic and demanding season with live music and entertainment at the Malta Polo Club, bringing the curtain down on another successful chapter in Maltese polo.
