Maltese squash star Colette Sultana has secured the first PSA 3K title of her career following a dramatic triumph at the Northern Territory 2025 PSA Open in Darwin, Australia.
The national champion, who has long been regarded as one of Malta’s top squash talents, produced a commanding performance throughout the tournament, defeating a string of international opponents to lift the title.
Sultana began her campaign with a dominant straight-games victory over Australian player Tansyn Noble in the quarter-finals, winning 11-7, 11-2, 11-3. She maintained her momentum in the semi-finals, dispatching South Korea’s Ye Won Jang 11-4, 11-7, 11-5.
The final, however, proved to be a much sterner test. In a tightly contested five-game battle against Chaewon Song of South Korea, Sultana showed resilience and composure under pressure. After losing the opening game 6-11, she bounced back to take the next two 11-9 and 11-5. Song forced a decider by edging the fourth 11-8, but Sultana held her nerve in a tense fifth game, eventually winning 15-13 to seal her first Professional Squash Association (PSA) 3K title.
Sultana’s breakthrough victory marks a major milestone in her professional career and reinforces her growing presence on the international squash circuit. The Malta Olympic Committee, SportMalta, and Malta Squash support the Maltese athlete.
Her triumph in Darwin underlines her individual progression and shines a spotlight on Malta’s continued efforts to develop competitive athletes across a range of disciplines on the world stage.
Sultana will now look to build on this success as she continues her 2025 PSA campaign.
