James Galea Jr Clinches Victory at MSSF Trap Competition

James Galea Jr delivered an outstanding performance to claim the top spot at the MSSF Trap Competition (50 Targets 2-2025), held at the Malta National Shooting Ranges.

Galea edged out stiff competition to secure the win, with Rennie Deguara finishing as runner-up and Gianluca Chetcuti taking third place overall.

The event consisted of a 50-target qualification round, followed by a final round of 25 single-shot targets. The top six shooters advancing to the final were:

  • Rennie Deguara – 49/50
  • James Galea Jr & Michele Danilo – 47/50 each
  • Gianluca Chetcuti & Christopher Vella – 46/50 each
  • Leetov Bonnici – 45/50 (+1 in shoot-off)

Anglu Ciappara narrowly missed out on a place in the final after posting 45/50 but losing the shoot-off (+0).

Final Standings:

  1. James Galea Jr – 24/25
  2. Rennie Deguara – 21/25 (shoot-off +4)
  3. Gianluca Chetcuti – 21/25 (shoot-off +3)
  4. Leetov Bonnici – 20/25
  5. Christopher Vella – 19/25
  6. Michele Danilo – 15/25

The next event on the MSSF calendar is the Trap Competition (75 Targets 2-2025), scheduled to take place on Sunday, 18 May, once again at the Malta National Shooting Ranges.
