Velvet Gio and Akela play shine in Horse Racing Sette Giugno Premier League

At the end of the week, the finalists of the Horse Racing Sette Giugno League Premier Class became known. The races were run over a distance of 2140m and twelve horses managed to make it to the finals. The event hosted two meetings, the 22nd and 23rd of the year.


In the first semi final, the Italian horse Velvet Gio (Rodney Gatt) confirmed its excellent run of form and easily beat Al Capone Stecca (Charles Degiorgio) and Global Undecided (Noel Baldacchino). Catherine’s Chevy (Laura Frendo), Alcoy (C. Camilleri) and Rampant (K. Galea) also made it to the final. The winner had an excellent average time of 1.13.9’’ per kilometer.


The second semi final saw Akela Play driven by Charles Degiorgio triumph by a half length over; Condior (Julian Farrugia), Arvid S.H. (Marco Debono) and Dats So Crazy (Anton Cassar). Charming Soldier (Paul Galea) and Mac Smily (Carl Caruana) came fifth and sixth respectively. The winner had an average time of 1.13.8’ per kilometer and this was the third victory for Akela Play this year.
