Mtarfa Futsal take initial advantage for play-offs semifinal

Mtarfa Futsal gained an initial advantage in the Enemed Women’s Futsal League first leg semifinal when they beat Lija Athletics B 3-1.

Oriana Bedingfield, Sabrina Bertona and Shania Spiteri opened a three-goal advantage for Mtarfa with Lija reducing the score through Bisleybi Amaya.

Referees were Andrea Naudi and Ray Tabone.

In the second semi-final there was an absolute balance between Lija Athletics A and Swieqi United Futsal with the final scoreline being 3-3.

This was the second time that the two teams met against each other after Swieqi had won the knock-out competition with 4-1 scoreline.

This time the game was a balanced affair although Lija A were winning 2-1 until the end of the first half. Despite everything, Swieqi reacted and restored parity so that everything must be decided in the second leg next week.

Jasmine Vella Turner scored a double with Ruth Steer Cheetham adding another for Lija.

Dana Fuentes, Amy Abdilla and Vanessa Carneiro responded for Swieqi.

Referees were Clinton Cassar and Danilo Francalanza.
