Mercedes driver George Russell set the fastest time in the first free practice before the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix.
Russell achieved the best result at Zandvoort with a time of 1:12.455 minutes, while his teammate Lewis Hamilton finished in second place, 0.240 seconds behind.
The third time was recorded by Carlos Sainz from Ferrari (0.390), fourth was Lando Norris from McLaren, and his teammate Daniel Ricciardo took fifth place.
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Sergio Perez (Red Bull), Fernando Alonso (Alpin), Esteban Ocon (Alpin) and Alexander Albon (Williams) also finished in 10th place.
In the early stages of training, the current world champion and the leading Red Bull driver Max Verstappen gave up.
Due to a problem with the gearbox, the Dutchman parked the car on the track, due to which the training session was briefly interrupted.
The second free training is being driven today from 16:00.
The race for the Dutch Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday from 15.00.
