A late dramatic goal by substitute Rui Areias handed Floriana a crucial 2–1 victory over Gżira United at the Centenary Stadium.
Gżira were the first to take the lead in the 11th minute following a corner-kick, with Maxuell Maia finishing attentively after a perfect delivery.
Floriana drew level in the 50th minute from another set-piece move, as Jah rose highest to head home.
When the match seemed destined to end in a draw, Rui Areias struck deep into stoppage time, netting the winning goal for Floriana ten minutes into added time. The goal sparked wild celebrations among Floriana’s players, technical staff and supporters, as the Greens retained top spot in the league standings.
