Hoffenheim claimed the first edition of the VisitMalta Women’s Trophy after finishing top of the standings in the tournament held at the National Football Centre in Ta’ Qali.

The German side secured their second victory of the competition on Sunday with a 4–1 win over PSV Eindhoven, having earlier defeated Basel by the same scoreline earlier in the week. The two wins ensured Hoffenheim finished the tournament with a perfect record.
PSV took the lead through Jacobs, but Hoffenheim levelled before half-time. The Germans then took full control in the second half, with goals from Sinka, Cerci and Grimm sealing a convincing victory.
In the other match of the day, fellow German side Wolfsburg recorded a comfortable 5–0 win over Basel. Alexandra Popp was the standout performer, scoring a hat trick to lead her team to victory.
Both Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim finished the tournament level on points and with the same goal difference. However, Hoffenheim were crowned champions after scoring more goals overall, securing the trophy on goal tally.
