Hibernians continue to dominate the women’s league as they prepare to compete against Mġarr United this weekend.
The league frontrunners are on a high after an exhilarating 4-3 triumph against Birkirkara last week, which widened their lead to 36 points. They now sit four points ahead of both Swieqi United and the Stripes.
It is worth noting that Hibs welcomed Georgiana Mifsud, their winter signing, who made her debut during the thrilling victory last weekend.
In a crucial battle for second place, Swieqi and Birkirkara, both tied on 32 points, will face each other this weekend in hopes of putting pressure on Hibernians at the top.
The Owls enter the match following a goalless draw with Mġarr United, a result that maintains Mġarr’s fourth position in the standings with 31 points, still in contention for the title.
Meanwhile, in the Bottom Four, leaders San Ġwann will face Lija Athletic in their upcoming fixture.
San Ġwann recently secured a 2-0 win against Mtarfa, with Hailey Russell once again finding the back of the net.
Russell continues to be the league’s leading scorer with an impressive tally of 18 goals this season.
Valletta, currently occupying second place in the lower section, narrowly defeated Lija Athletic 1-0 in their most recent match.
