Liverpool’s Dutch stopper, and one of the best defenders in the world, Virgil van Dijk, was injured in the match against Brentford.
Liverpool suffered a 3:1 defeat away to Brentford, thus ending a streak of four consecutive victories in the Premier League. However, defeat is not all that hurts Liverpool fans.
Their captain and one of the key players, stopper Virgil van Dijk, could be absent from the field for a longer time. Namely, a journalist from ‘The Times’ who is very reliable and close to the Anfield Road club, Paul Joyce, revealed that Virgil van Dijk’s injury is more serious than first thought.
“The tendon injury that Virgil suffered in the match against Brentford is more serious than expected. More detailed medical tests will follow and soon it will be known how long it will take for him to return to the field,’ said Paul Joyce.
The defender was replaced at halftime, when the score was 2:0 for Brentford, and there were rumors that it was a conflict with manager Jürgen Klopp, but with this knowledge, such stories were denied.
Liverpool can’t get together this season, as many as 23 players have missed at least one game this season due to injury. Virgil van Dijk thus joined the injured list, which already includes Jota, Diaz, Henderson, Firmino, Milner and Artur.
