UEFA – The European House of Football states that the start of the match was postponed so that as many people with original tickets could enter the stands because the fans were making a mess.
The final match of the Champions League started with a 35-minute delay due to the fact that the fans in front of the “France” stadium in Saint Denis tried to enter the stadium with fake tickets.
“Before the match, the gates where Liverpool fans were were blocked by thousands of fans who bought fake tickets that did not work on the gate. That created a big crowd among the people who tried to enter, “UEFA said in a statement.
“As people came, the police had to disperse them with tear gas. “UEFA regrets those who suffered because of these incidents and will soon consider further steps with the French police and the French Football Association.”
“We are very disappointed that there were problems at the entrance. “This is the biggest match in European football and the fans should not experience the things we witnessed this evening,” Liverpool said in a statement.
