Ħamrun Spartans have written to UEFA with a request to move their UEFA Conference League play-off match against RFS of Latvia from the Ta’ Qali National Stadium to the Centenary Stadium.
The main reason for this request is the poor condition of the pitch at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium. As was clear during the opening round of the YoHealth Malta Premier League, the playing surface is far from ideal, and in high-stakes European matches like this one, a poor pitch could make things more difficult for Ħamrun.

The pitch was already in bad shape before the domestic league even started. However, after four matches were played on it over the weekend, the condition has clearly worsened. For this same reason, Ħamrun had to move their Europa League match against Maccabi Tel Aviv from the National Stadium to the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
Ħamrun Spartans are set to host RFS in the first leg this Thursday at 7pm. The return leg will be played on the 28th of August at the LNK Sporta Parks in Riga.
