The Dutch great will try to find a way out of the crisis with a new coach on the bench.
Maurice Steijn is no longer the coach of Ajax. He was fired after the fourth defeat of the season (Utrecht 4:3), and the penultimate place in the table after seven rounds.
“Ajax and Maurice Steijn are terminating their cooperation, the decision takes effect immediately.” The club and Steijn jointly agreed on the termination of cooperation. “Stein arrived at Ajax this summer from Sparta and had a contract until June 30, 2026,” reads the statement of Ajax.
“This morning I sat down with people from the club’s management and we continued our talks even after midnight.” We came to the conclusion that it is best for Ajax to part ways, although I personally regret it.
