SOUTHGATE ANNOUNCED THE LIST: Toney received a call from The Three Lions!

England football team coach Gareth Southgate called Brentford player Ivan Toney to the team today for the Nations League matches against Italy and Germany.

Toni has scored 13 Premier League goals since January, including a hat-trick in 28 minutes against Leeds in early September.

He did not play for England’s youth teams, and the Jamaica Football Association allegedly tried to convince him to play for their national team last year, Sky reported.

There is no Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in the squad. Rashford is still feeling the effects of the injury he picked up on September 4 against Arsenal, which means he will not play tonight against Sheriff in the Europa League.

Sancho scored two goals in six league games, and he last played for the national team on October 9 last year against Andorra.

Southgate called up Eric Dier from Tottenham, who has not played for the national team since November 2020.

The roster includes goalkeepers: Dean Henderson, Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale.

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Chilwell, Conor Coady, Eric Dier, Mark Gehey, Rhys James, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Fikayo Tomori, Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker.

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount, Calvin Phillips, Declan Rice and James Ward-Prowse.

Forwards: Tammy Abraham, Jarrod Bowen, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling and Ivan Toney.

England will play as a guest against Italy on September 23, and three days later they will welcome Germany in the Nations League.
