The hero of Poland, Mateusz Ponitka, reflected on the course of Eurobasket so far.
The Poles, to everyone’s surprise, reached the semifinals where they will play against France, and Ponitka once again returned to a historic victory against Slovenia:
- We won an important game, historic for the Polish national team. Undoubtedly the emotions are still there, a few of us are also tired, you know when you wake up and feel that you have played a certain number of minutes. But it’s great, I’ve talked about it before, we’re a group of guys who enjoy being together, playing basketball, loving what they do. Let’s stick together and that’s how it will be in the next two games – said Ponitka, then devoted himself to the match with the French:
- We will fight and do everything to win, one victory is perfect, and two is something incredible… If we end up with a medal, that would be phenomenal.
Mateusz Ponitka’s body can be seen with numerous moles. He revealed the Pole and who “beat” him:
- They are from the game against Israel in the group stage. The next game, for me personally, was difficult because I could not see in half of my eye. It constricted and annoyed me. But the teammates did a great job and beat the Netherlands. There were a lot of pains, minor injuries, but everyone had them, Slovenia, France… It’s a tough tournament, a lot of games are played, and that’s normal. When the game starts and you have an opponent in front of you, forget about all that. Adrenaline kicks in and you just play.
In the end, he reflected on the relegation of the favorites – Serbia, Slovenia and Greece:
- Of course this is a surprise, everyone expected that the three you mentioned would be among the top four. But this is a sport, that’s why people love it. Technically, you can beat better teams, NBA basketball players, the best, and you can also lose, let’s say, to teams ranked worse than you. Not worse, but more poorly placed. That’s what happens at this tournament, it’s full of surprises and I hope we can make some more – concluded Ponitka.
