SERIE A CHANGES THE RULES: A game as an option to solve the champion!

The Assembly of the Football Association of Italy has confirmed the adoption of new competition rules for Serie A next season.

Goal difference, mutual score or fair play is no longer in the spotlight as the last option if the two teams are equal in points. The board made the decision to introduce a playoff match if it happens that at the end of the season, the two teams are equal in the number of points.

From next season, if the two teams are tied, they will have to play the “master” for the title, which will be decided by penalties if there is a draw after 90 minutes.

Earlier, Serie A also had the same rules, but it was later adopted to look at each other’s score. Once in the history of the championship, the championship was decided by a “master”. It happened in 1964, Bologna and Inter played a match at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.

Both teams had 54 points each, and Bologna celebrated the result of 2: 0 in the decisive duel and thus won their first Scudetto.
