Massimiliano Allegri could once again emerge as a managerial target for Real Madrid ahead of next season, with reports suggesting the Spanish giants are preparing a new attempt to lure the AC Milan coach to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this summer.
According to reports in Corriere dello Sport, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is again considering Allegri as a possible solution for the club’s managerial position following an unsettled period on the bench.
The development comes amid speculation in Italy about Allegri’s relationship with Milan’s hierarchy. Recent reports have suggested tensions behind the scenes linked to unfulfilled transfer promises and uncertainty over the balance of power within the club’s leadership.
The discussion reportedly centres on the differing priorities between the sporting department, represented by Allegri and sporting director Igli Tare, and the financial direction led by chief executive Giorgio Furlani. While the situation has not escalated publicly, the uncertainty has prompted questions over Allegri’s long-term future despite his comfort at Milanello.
Into that backdrop enters renewed interest from Madrid. The Spanish club are said to be evaluating their options after an inconsistent period under coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who had been promoted after the dismissal of Xabi Alonso.
Real Madrid are reportedly seeking an experienced figure capable of managing a dressing room filled with high-profile stars. Allegri’s reputation as a pragmatic coach and effective man manager has long appealed to Perez.
This would not be the first time the Italian has been linked with the Madrid job. Real Madrid previously attempted to appoint Allegri in 2019 after he concluded his successful spell with Juventus FC, though the negotiations did not lead to an agreement.
Two years later, the Spanish side made another approach, and Allegri reportedly agreed terms on a three-year contract worth around €8.5 million per season. However, he ultimately chose to return to Juventus after being persuaded by the then club president Andrea Agnelli.
Despite the renewed interest, a move to Madrid this summer remains uncertain. Allegri currently enjoys strong backing at Milan from both supporters and key figures within the club, with the team benefiting from his pragmatic and results-driven approach.
Whether Real Madrid’s latest interest develops into a concrete offer may depend on how the situation evolves both in Madrid and Milan in the coming months. For now, Allegri’s future remains closely tied to Milan, even if the allure of the Bernabeu continues to hover in the background.
