Napoli missed the opportunity to return to the top of Serie A after a shocking 2-1 loss against Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Sunday. The title contenders have now gone four matches without a win, putting their championship hopes in jeopardy.
The match began disastrously for Napoli when Kosovan defender Amir Rrahmani inadvertently put Como ahead in the seventh minute. Attempting to deal with a throw-in from Matteo Politano, Rrahmani misjudged his header and sent the ball into his own net, catching goalkeeper Alex Meret off his line to the frustration of manager Antonio Conte.
Napoli responded quickly, capitalizing on defensive errors from Como. In the 17th minute, forward Giacomo Raspadori pounced on a loose ball and slotted it past goalkeeper Jean Butez to bring the visitors level.
However, Como regained the lead late in the second half when Assane Diao produced a brilliant finish in the 77th minute. Receiving a precise pass from Nico Paz, Diao fired past Meret to secure a memorable victory for the newly promoted side.
Napoli remain second in the standings with 56 points from 26 matches, trailing reigning champions Inter Milan by one point. Meanwhile, Como climbed to 13th place with 28 points, marking a significant step in their battle for survival.
