Juventus fail to win again in front of their home supporters

Juventus registered their third consecutive 2-2 draw at the Juventus Stadium, this time against Fiorentina.

Fiorentina managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Juventus in Serie A on Sunday, courtesy of a late, spectacular goal by forward Riccardo Sottil. This outcome marked yet another draw for the home team after Khephren Thuram’s two goals. Thuram initially gave Juventus the lead at the 20-minute mark, driving the ball low into the near post following an impressive individual effort. However, Fiorentina’s Moise Kean equalised before halftime with a headed goal. Thuram restored Juventus’ advantage three minutes into the second half with a close-range finish into the far bottom corner, but Sottil levelled for Fiorentina in the 87th minute with a powerful volley from close range. Juventus are currently sixth in the league standings, sharing 32 points with fifth-placed Fiorentina. Juventus have drawn five of their last six league matches, recording only one victory during that stretch against Monza, who are at the bottom of the table, last weekend. The hosts began the match energetically, with Dusan Vlahovic nearly scoring an early goal, but his header narrowly missed the target against his former team. The match was momentarily paused due to racist chants directed at the Serbian striker, and stadium screens displayed a warning urging fans to cease, else the game risked being suspended.

Thuram quietened the away fans as he weaved through Fiorentina’s defence to open the scoring.

However, Juventus’ apparent control waned once they scored, and Fiorentina, eager to bounce back after losses to Udinese and Bologna, began to push for more opportunities. Kean equalised in the 38th minute with his 11th goal of the season but chose not to celebrate against his former team, having transferred clubs in July. Fiorentina’s goalkeeper, David De Gea, thwarted Vlahovic’s attempt to reclaim the lead for Juventus just before halftime. The Spanish keeper needed medical attention after making the save with an extended arm. Thuram restored Juventus’ advantage after the break, netting his second goal of the match with a shot that was redirected by a Fiorentina player following a low cross from Teun Koopmeiners. Yet, the visitors remained resilient, and Sottil eventually secured a draw with a spectacular shot that nestled into the top of the net.
