Matteo Guendouzi is set to become a Fenerbahçe player, with Lazio and the Turkish club having reached an agreement for a permanent transfer worth €27 million plus a further €2 million in bonuses.
Negotiations between the two clubs accelerated in recent hours following Fenerbahçe’s improved offer, which ultimately convinced Lazio to sanction the sale. The French midfielder is expected to complete his move to Turkey shortly, bringing an end to his spell in Rome after two and a half seasons.
Despite the agreement being in place, Guendouzi will not leave Italy immediately. The 26-year-old is set to remain with the Biancocelesti until after their Serie A clash against Hellas Verona, scheduled for Sunday, 11 January at 18:00. He is also expected to start on the bench in Lazio’s upcoming fixture against Fiorentina.
Guendouzi joined Lazio in 2023 and quickly established himself as a key figure in midfield. During his time at the club, he made 110 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and becoming a regular presence under successive coaches.
His departure represents a significant move in Lazio’s January transfer window, while for Fenerbahçe, it is a major statement signing as they look to strengthen their squad with top-level European experience.
The official announcement is expected once Guendouzi completes his final commitments with Lazio and travels to Turkey to finalise personal terms and undergo medical checks.
