Bologna and Juventus played out their fifth draw in a row, keeping both teams firmly in the race for a Serie A top-four finish. Juventus are now unbeaten in their last 28 meetings with Bologna.
Despite a difficult season that saw former Bologna coach Thiago Motta sacked in March, Juve remain in the fight for Champions League qualification. They made a strong start in this match, taking the lead in the ninth minute. Andrea Cambiaso drove forward and set up Khéphren Thuram, who scored with a low shot from outside the box. Bologna keeper Łukasz Skorupski got a hand to it, but couldn’t keep it out.
Bologna reacted well but struggled to test Juve keeper Michele Di Gregorio. Riccardo Orsolini’s corner nearly went straight in, but Di Gregorio tipped it over, and Sam Beukema headed over from another set piece. Juve looked to have doubled their lead just before half-time through Nicolás González, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Early in the second half, Cambiaso found the net for Juve, but once again the goal was disallowed for offside. Bologna then equalised in the 54th minute. Nicolò Cambiaghi crossed to the far post, Thijs Dallinga headed the ball down to Remo Freuler, who scored with a slight deflection.
Juventus pushed for a winner, with González forcing a save from Skorupski and Alberto Costa having a shot blocked on the line. But neither side could find a second goal, and the match ended 1–1.
Juventus move back into the top four, just ahead of Roma, while Bologna sit one point behind after going ten home games unbeaten.
