There is a possibility that former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos might join a top club in a surprising move.
After his contract with Sevilla ended in 2023-24, the 38-year-old Spaniard is currently a free agent. With a total of 22 trophies won during his 16 years at Madrid, Ramos is widely acknowledged as one of the best defenders of the last two decades. Despite being a defender, he has scored 101 goals for Los Blancos, including a header in the 93rd minute against Atletico Madrid during the Champions League final in Lisbon, which led Madrid to secure the coveted ‘La Decima’ title with a 4-1 win over their city rivals in 2014.
After leaving Madrid, he spent two years at PSG before returning to his hometown club Sevilla in 2023. However, he may be on the move again, this time to a non-European club.

According to reports, Argentinian giants Boca Juniors are interested in signing Ramos and their president, Juan Román Riquelme – a former Barcelona midfielder – has been in talks with the player. This move may be facilitated by Boca’s manager, Ramos’ former Madrid teammate Fernando Gago, who played for Los Blancos from 2007 to 2012.
Despite being in the latter stages of his career, Ramos has received offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which he has reportedly declined. The 38-year-old regularly shares videos of his gym workouts on his Instagram account, which has 64.5 million followers.
Ramos and Boca seem like a perfect match, as the club is known for its passionate fans and has seen renowned players like Diego Maradona and Carlos Tevez donning their iconic blue and yellow jersey. With his aggressive playing style and passion, Ramos is likely to be well-received by South American fans.
