Real Madrid legend Francisco Gento has died at the age of 88.
The news of his death was announced by the “Royal Club”, which sent its condolences to the family of the famous football player.
Gento became the legendary wing of Real Madrid, played 428 matches, and scored a total of 128 goals for the team from the “Santiago Bernabeu”. He was a member of the unforgettable team of Madrid that dominated the fifties.
He spent a full 18 years in the jersey of the “Royal Club”, he won 12 Spanish titles and six Champions Cups, five of which were in a row, as well as two King’s Cup trophies.
He made 43 appearances for the Spanish national team, and also played in two World Cups, in 1962 and 1966.
Gento was the honorary president of Real and the club will pay special tribute to him in the match with Elche on Sunday.
