In the derby match of the 22nd round of the Portuguese championship, Porto and Sporting played a draw – 2:2.
A great derby was played on “Dragao”. Four goals, a large number of opportunities, red cards, and a big fight at the end.
Sporting shone in the first half and goals from Paulinho in the eighth and Nuno Santos in the 34th gained a nice lead.
The host was completely out of the derby at that moment, but they managed to reduce it by the end of the first half with a goal by Fabio Vieira.
This goal ignited passions on “Dragao”, so at the end of the halftime, there was a conflict between the football players of the two teams, which was preceded by a yellow card from Pepe after hitting a Sporting player.
In the opening minutes of the continuation, Coates received a red card, and Porto managed to equalize through Taremi in the 78th minute.
The finish of the derby could not be without drama. First, the assistant coach of Sporting was excluded because he entered the field irregularly, and after a great defense of the goalkeeper of the guests in the referee’s compensation, a general fight of players followed in which several players from both sides were excluded.
Pepe and Marchesin received red cards in the ranks of Porto, while Palhinha and Tabata were sanctioned on the other side.
After this derby, Porto kept a six-point advantage over Sporting and is treading confidently towards the title.
