The giant from Manchester announced the financial results for the previous 2020/21 season, in which they finished in a record-breaking red.
Manchester United is owned by the American Glazer family, which also owns the Tampa Bay NFL club. Old Trafford fans have been protesting for a long time because they are dissatisfied with the way the club is run, but so far to no avail.
Today they got a new reason. The business of Manchester United for the previous season was published and the result is astonishing. The club operated at a record minus amounting to 115.5 million pounds. It was stated in the financial statement.
384.2 million pounds were spent on player wages, breaking the record previously held by their city rivals, Manchester City. The club’s net debt also rose from £419.5m to £514.5m, an increase of around 22%. Due to bringing Ronaldo, Sancho, and Varane to the club, £61.1 million more was paid to player wages than the previous year, which is 19% more than the previous year.
