MaltaSport is informed that Brazilian defensive midfielder Miguel Baggio is already in Malta and is expected to be unveiled as the latest addition to Sliema Wanderers FC in the coming days.
Baggio, 26, has recently played for EC Passo Fundo, competing in the second division of Brazilian football. His move to Sliema would mark his first professional experience outside of Brazil and South America.
Last season, Baggio featured with Marília AC (SP), where he impressed with his positioning, tackling, and work rate in midfield. His consistent performances and ability to shield the backline have made him an appealing prospect for the Maltese Premier League side.
This signing is part of Sliema’s continued effort to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The club has already secured the services of Croatian midfielder Roko Prša, Brazilian winger Fernandinho, Brazilian Thiago Espindola and Maltese international striker Luke Montebello, amongst others.
Baggio is expected to finalise the last formalities in the coming hours before being officially presented. His arrival adds further depth and experience to Sliema’s midfield as the Blues continue to build a strong and competitive team for the upcoming campaign.
