Romelu Lukaku, in a thrilling Serie A encounter, showcased his scoring prowess but found himself on the wrong side of a red card as nine-man Roma battled Fiorentina to a hard-fought draw.
Lukaku’s early header, courtesy of a sublime outside-of-the-boot cross from Paulo Dybala, gave Roma an early advantage. Fiorentina responded with Lucas Martinez Quarta’s glancing header, leveling the score in the second half after Roma’s Nicola Zalewski received his second booking.
The drama escalated as Lukaku received a straight red for a studs-up foul on Christian Kouame three minutes from the final whistle.
Despite the late drama, Roma resiliently held on, and Fiorentina ended the game with 10 men after Nikola Milenkovic’s stoppage-time dismissal.
With Jose Mourinho’s Roma securing a point, they currently hold the fourth spot in Serie A, while Fiorentina follows closely behind in seventh.
