The former representative of Croatia, Dejan Lovren, recalled the double match between his team and Serbia in the World Cup qualifiers in Brazil in 2014.
“These are matches you don’t play every day. When you play against Serbia, it’s like playing against Brazil. In my eyes it is equal. You’re going to do your best. You feel that energy, it will shoot in all directions”, says Lovren and added:
“I recently watched a match against Serbia in Belgrade. That’s incredible. I played left-back. Štimac was the selector, and Šimunić, Ćorluka, and Srna were also in the defense. I was shocked that I played on the left side. It was a hellish atmosphere that I will never forget”.
The duel in Belgrade ended with a score of 1:1, while the Croats previously won at “Maksimir” with a score of 2:0.
