Barcelona players won the 27th title in the club’s history yesterday thanks to the victory over Espanyol in the 34th round of the Spanish La Liga. The first man of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta, has a new goal after the title.
In a statement to the Spanish media, Laporta announced that the main goal in the next transfer window will be the return of Lionel Messi in the Barcelona jersey.
The first man of the club pointed out that Barcelona’s plan is to find an adequate way to fit Messi’s income into the club’s budget, but he added that the team from the “Nou Camp” must wait for the approval of the leaders of La Liga.
“We want Messi, but we will not offer “crazy figures” for that or any other contract. We will try to make the system work with a sustainability plan, and then we will wait for approval,” said Laporta.
He repeated that Messi is the best footballer in the world and that there is always a place for him in the Barcelona team.
“Where would Messi play in our club? Xavi will decide that, but it was never a problem with the best football player in the world”, added the president of Barcelona.
