Koeman: Laporta cares more about annoying me than bringing in a player!

Former Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman stated that he wished to bring Wijnaldum to the Catalan club, but club president Joan Laporta refused at the time.

Wijnaldum then played for Liverpool, and in 2021 he chose Paris Saint-Germain before Barcelona, which delayed negotiations.

“It is true that I did everything to bring Wijnaldum, but the deal failed, because the president cared more about annoying me than bringing the player. It was his behavior that delayed the operation, and that’s why he chose Paris Saint-Germain. “If it wasn’t for Laporta’s procrastination, Wijnaldum would have ended up in Barcelona,” Koeman said.

Wijnaldum is currently on loan at Roma. He was injured a month ago during Roma’s training, which is why he will not play until the end of the year, as well as for the Netherlands’ selection at the World Cup in Qatar.
