Klopp is in trouble: Joel Matip ended the season due to injury

During the match between Liverpool and Sheffield United, Joel Matip sustained a severe knee injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

Jurgen Klopp declared that the seasoned defender suffered an injury: “Unfortunately, my initial concerns from the moment of the injury have materialized. Matip has torn the cruciate ligaments of his knee.”

Joel Matip picked up the injury towards the end of the preceding match against Fulham, with Klopp indicating even then that the issue was far from trivial. Unfortunately, he confirmed the grim news last night.

In the duel against Sheffield, Alexis McAllister also suffered an injury. Klopp expresses hope that his absence won’t be prolonged: “He had a cut in the knee area, he tried to continue, but in the second half, it was already impossible. We’ll see when he can return to the field, and I hope it won’t be an extended absence.”
