Bayern soccer player and German national team member Joshua Kimmich condemned the club’s decision to fire club directors Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic on the day of the match against Cologne.
Kahn and Salihamidžić are the playing legends of this club, but after a series of bad decisions and the dissatisfaction of the fans and club leaders with their work, it was decided that they would be fired on the day of the match against Cologne.
Thanks to the draw between Mainz and Borussia Dortmund (2:2), Bayern won the 11th consecutive title in the last round of the Bundesliga, and Germany representative Joshua Kimmich points out that he was surprised by this decision of the club.
“No, I didn’t know they were going to be fired.” We were surprised that something like that happened on the day of the celebration of the championship title. Regardless of whether you think it was a good or bad decision, the club could have waited two, three days with the announcement. I don’t want to judge whether the decision is good or bad, but it’s strange to win the Bundesliga in such a finish and then receive such news. The feelings are mixed,” Kimmich said.
Kahn spent 14 years in his playing career in a German club, while Salihamidžić spent nine seasons in the ranks of the Bavarians before moving to Juventus.
He has been the sports director of Bayern since 2017, and Kahn took the position of executive director in 2021.
Kimmich did not want to answer whether the two directors deservedly got fired.
