Jack Wilshere, the former Arsenal midfielder, ended his football career at the age of 30.
Wilshere left Aarhus in Denmark after his contract expired and after 14 years of professional career, he decided to hang up his football boots.
He started his career at Arsenal, where he came through the youth ranks, before making his debut for the first team in 2008.
During ten years, he played 197 games for the Gunners and scored 14 goals.
After leaving the Emirates, Wilshere also wore the jerseys of Bolton, West Ham, and Bournemouth, and then went to Denmark, where he had a lot of problems with his form.
– I announce that I am retiring from professional football. It was a fantastic trip filled with many wonderful moments. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to experience all of this during my career, from a little boy kicking a ball in the backyard, to the captain’s armband of my beloved Arsenal and playing for my country in the World Cup. I lived my dream – said Wilshere in his farewell message.
Wilshere thanked his teammates, coaches, and fans of the clubs where he played, and above all his family.
– This is for Archie, Delilah, Sienna, and Jack, I hope I’ve made you all proud because you’re the only thing that matters. I love you all and thank you for always keeping a smile on my face. I have enjoyed every moment of my career, it has been the journey of a lifetime. Now is the right time to close the chapter, even though I have more to give to this game. I’m excited about everything the future holds – concluded Wilshere.
