The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat against Switzerland in their final friendly match ahead of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The game took place on June 10, 2025, at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee, where over 20,000 spectators watched the action unfold.
Switzerland came out strong from the kickoff, netting all four goals within the first 36 minutes. Dan Ndoye opened the scoring in the 13th minute, followed by Michel Aebischer’s strike in the 23rd minute. Breel Embolo and Johan Manzambi added goals in the 33rd and 36th minutes respectively. The US team struggled offensively and failed to register a single shot on target during the match.
This loss marked the USMNT’s fourth straight defeat—a streak not seen since 2007—and extended their winless run against European teams to eight matches since 2021.
Despite the disappointing scoreline, head coach Mauricio Pochettino stressed the importance of focusing on upcoming challenges, including the Gold Cup and preparations for the 2026 World Cup. He emphasized using the friendly to evaluate new talent and tactics moving forward.
The US now turns their attention to the Gold Cup, starting with their opening match against Trinidad and Tobago on June 15 at PayPal Park in San Jose. The team hopes to regain confidence and momentum as they head into the tournament and build towards next year’s World Cup.
