England defender has called time on his international career.
The 33-year-old earned 54 caps for his country, with his sole goal coming in the 2018 World Cup semi-final loss to Croatia in Moscow.
The Newcastle full-back Kieran Trippier, who first played for England in 2017 under Gareth Southgate, wore the captain’s armband three times.
“As a lad from Bury, I never imagined I’d play for England, let alone 54 times,” Trippier shared on social media.
“Representing my country at four major tournaments has been one of my life’s greatest honours.
“I’m deeply grateful to Gareth and all the England staff for their trust in me over the years.”

Trippier was a key player under Southgate, starting England’s first six matches at Euro 2024 before being replaced by Luke Shaw in the final.
He also began the Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy, and was a regular starter at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
England’s interim manager Lee Carsley will name his first squad at 14:00 BST for September’s Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.
“I’m thankful to all my teammates – we’ve shared some incredible moments, reaching two Euro finals and a World Cup semi-final. I’m confident this group will win a major tournament soon,” he added.
“I wish Lee, the coaching team, and the squad all the best for the future.
“Lastly, a huge thank you to all England fans for your unwavering support, following us around the world and lifting our spirits in tough times.”
