Maltese referees appointed to UEFA Conference League qualifier in Serbia

FIFA referee Matthew De Gabriele was appointed by UEFA to officiate the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League Second Qualifying Round first leg between FK Novi Pazar (Serbia) and Jagiellonia Białystok (Poland). The match took place on Thursday, 24 July at the Gradski Stadion Novi Pazar in Serbia.

De Gabriele was supported by two fellow members of the Malta Football Referees Association (MFRA): assistant referees Mitchell Scerri and Jurgen Spiteri with fourth official Daniel Casha. The trio formed part of the officiating team for the European fixture, contributing to UEFA’s commitment to assigning experienced and qualified officials from across its member associations.

This latest appointment highlights the continued presence of Maltese officials in European competitions and reflects their recognition at international level.

The MFRA extended its congratulations to the officials involved, noting the importance of such opportunities in maintaining high standards and gaining valuable experience on the continental stage.
