In a monumental achievement, Erling Haaland has rewritten the Premier League record books by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals, achieving this milestone during Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool. Haaland’s goal in the 27th minute not only propelled City ahead in their top-of-the-table encounter but also surpassed the previous record held by Andy Cole.
This remarkable feat follows Haaland’s impressive debut campaign at the Etihad, where he netted 36 goals in a 38-game season, contributing significantly to City’s title triumph last season. In just 13 appearances of the current season, the prolific Norwegian striker has added 14 more goals to his tally, reaching the 50-goal mark faster than any other player in Premier League history.

Haaland’s pursuit of the record included notable performances, including braces against Manchester United and Chelsea before the international break. His goal-scoring prowess was evident from the opening day, where he secured a brace against Burnley, followed by a hat-trick against Fulham in the subsequent home fixture.
Throughout his Premier League journey, Haaland has consistently delivered impactful performances, marked by a debut brace against West Ham United last season and four league hat-tricks against Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The accomplishment of reaching 50 goals in just 48 games sets Haaland apart from Andy Cole, who previously held the record but took 17 games more to achieve the feat in the 1990s. Cole’s journey included spells at Newcastle United and Manchester United, taking a total of 65 matches to reach the 50-goal mark.
Following Haaland on the list is the legendary Alan Shearer, who reached his first 50 goals in 66 matches while at Blackburn Rovers during the early stages of the 1994-95 season. Ruud van Nistelrooy achieved a similar milestone in 68 games after joining Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven in 2001.
Mohamed Salah, who was on the opposing team when Haaland secured the record, reached 50 goals in 72 matches. Joining Salah in this achievement is Fernando Torres, who also took 72 games to reach the 50-goal mark after joining Liverpool in 2007.
Erling Haaland’s accomplishment not only cements his status as a goal-scoring sensation but also etches his name in Premier League history with a record-breaking pace that may stand for years to come.
