FIFA: The International Football Federation announced today that it will introduce restrictions on the number of players that clubs can send on loan and borrow at an international level.
As it is stated, from the 2022/23 season, clubs will be able to have a maximum of eight borrowed players from other clubs.
They will then be reduced to seven in the season later and to six in the season beginning after July 1, 2024.
Another rule that FIFA is introducing is that a maximum of three players will be able to go to the same club, and the minimum and maximum loan agreement will be one year.
Also, the club to which the player is loaned will not be able to pass it on to a third club.
Players under the age of 21 and football players who grew up in the club’s youth department will be exempted from these restrictions.
This rule could affect a large number of Italian teams, particularly London Chelsea, which has used a large number of loan players over the years
