Speculation over Ruben Amorim sacking before end of season wide of the mark

Recent speculation suggesting that Ruben Amorim could be dismissed by Manchester United before the end of the season has been dismissed as inaccurate, with sources close to the club insisting his position is not under threat.

Rumours gained traction on social media after claims emerged that Amorim was no longer seen as the right man to lead United forward, with Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner reportedly identified as a potential successor. However, that narrative has been firmly rejected by insiders.

Those familiar with the situation indicate that Amorim remains on course to meet the objectives set for him at the start of the campaign. Manchester United are still firmly in the race for a return to the Champions League, and at this stage, there are no internal discussions regarding the Portuguese coach’s future.

Club sources stress that Amorim’s role is not under review and that the hierarchy is satisfied with the overall direction of progress. He was tasked with keeping United competitive in the European qualification race and restoring their status among the Premier League’s leading sides, a target that remains very much within reach.

United currently sit just two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, while planning is already underway to strengthen the squad. The club is prepared to invest over the next two transfer windows, with a top-level centre back, two midfield reinforcements and a new wide attacker identified as priorities heading into 2026.

While performances have not yet been perfect, there is a growing belief within Old Trafford that Amorim’s team is becoming more cohesive and increasingly entertaining, viewed as an important step in the club’s long-term rebuild.

Only a significant downturn in results or a clear failure to remain in contention for European qualification would place Amorim under serious pressure later in the season. For now, any talk of an imminent exit is considered premature, with Amorim expected to see out the campaign.
