Newcastle United FC recorded a 1-0 victory over Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, leaving the London club with just one win from their last five league matches.
Chelsea created the first opportunities of the match. Alejandro Garnacho delivered a cross to the far post, but former Chelsea academy player Lewis Hall cleared the danger before Joao Pedro could finish. From the resulting corner, Wesley Fofana headed narrowly over the crossbar.
The home side continued to apply pressure during the opening stages, with Garnacho and Cole Palmer both missing opportunities.
Newcastle took the lead against the run of play. Joe Willock advanced beyond the Chelsea defence before passing the ball across goal to Anthony Gordon, who scored from close range.

Chelsea defender Fofana was later involved in another key moment when he challenged Gordon as the Newcastle forward ran towards goal. The incident was reviewed but did not result in a dismissal. A further appeal for a penalty occurred when Reece James appeared to bring down Malick Thiaw during a corner situation, but play continued.
After the interval, Chelsea introduced Liam Delap, who soon tested Aaron Ramsdale with a shot that required a save. Newcastle remained organised defensively and continued to threaten on the counterattack.
Another appeal for a penalty was made when Nick Woltemade challenged Palmer inside the penalty area, but the referee allowed play to continue.
Chelsea pushed for an equaliser late in the match. Delap headed wide from a cross, while a stoppage time free kick from Reece James struck the post. Newcastle held on to secure the win.
The result lifts Newcastle to ninth place in the Premier League table, six points behind Chelsea. The London club missed the opportunity to move level on points with Aston Villa FC and Manchester United FC.
