Chelsea forced UEFA to change the rules

During this season, Chelsea spent 460,000,000 euros on reinforcements, and with the potential purchase of Enzo Fernandez, this figure could increase to 580,000,000 euros, which caught UEFA’s eye.

Football players from “Stamford Bridge” are currently feeling the big consequences of the change of ownership.

Todd Bolly made sure that the departure of Roman Abramovich was not felt so much in the western part of London.

“Blues” do not stop with buying players, and the buying model is clear. Proven young players are coming, as well as those who are considered great talents, while the base of the team is made up of footballers who won the Champions League two years ago.

It is clear that the foundation for the building is ideal, so it should not be surprising that starting next season Chelsea will finally become competitive for the Premier League title.

One of the players who is sure to be the backbone of the team in the coming years is Mihajlo Mudrik. The Ukrainian came from Shakhtar for 100,000,000 euros and immediately showed what kind of player he is on his debut against Liverpool.

However, something else caught UEFA’s attention. Chelsea signed Mudrik for seven years, and if we know that the fixed part of the transfer is estimated at 70,000,000 euros and that 30,000,000 euros are bonuses, it is clear that “Blues” will mislead this cost as a cost of 10,000,000 euros per season, which will satisfy financial fair play.

To prevent this from happening again in the future, UEFA is introducing a new rule starting in the summer. Namely, from now on the maximum length of the contract will be five years.

Therefore, there will be no possibility to satisfy financial fair play in the way that Chelsea did.

Let us remind you that “Blues” did a similar thing with Sterling, who signed a contract for five years, Kukurelja for six, while Badiashile and Datro Fofana signed contracts for six and a half years.
