Ferencvaros coach Dejan Stankovic was proud of his team, which defeated the Cukaricki team 3:1 after a turnaround.
The Hungarian team lost 0:1, but in the end managed to record its first victory in the group stage of the Conference League.
“It was phenomenal to play. When you play at home, the pressure is greater, but when there is such support, it is easier. We started from a deficit, the stadium didn’t stop, and neither did the boys. This victory is thanks to the boys and the stadium.” emphasized Stankovic.
The former coach of Red Star also reflected on the performance of Aleksandar Pesic, who came off the bench and scored a goal.
“I’m glad for Pesic, he came back from injury, he didn’t start the preparations and the goal certainly means something to him, as well as to us as a team. He and Varga are excellent strikers and there will be space for both of them.” Dejan revealed.
He also referred to the VAR system, which has repeatedly checked the referees’ decisions on the field.
“I’m used to VAR, so there was nothing unusual. We know that sometimes he brings, sometimes he takes away, but in 99 percent of cases he is not wrong.” he emphasized and revealed what he said to the coach of Cukaricki after the game.
“I thanked Igor Matic for a fair and good fight, I wished him luck and told him to continue like this. They really look very good, they are a great combination of youth and experience.” Stankovic said.
