In the time of great celebration for winning third place at the World Cup, Croatian captain Luka Modrić and coach Zlatko Dalić spoke about the deceased Sinisa Mihajlović.
At the press conference, Dalić was the first to answer the question about the once legendary football player.
“My sincere condolences to the Mihajlovic family. I knew him, a long, long time ago. I’m sorry he lost his battle. We got ours today, but he didn’t. And that’s unfortunate. Difficult. This is something else. He was a great football player, a top coach. It’s a big loss, and when young people leave, it’s a tragedy for us.”
Then Luka Modrić also said a few words about Mihajlović. And from each one could feel disbelief and shock due to the tragic event.
“We heard yesterday, we were really shocked by the news. We were hoping that he would be able to pull through. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. It really shocked us a lot. I can only express my condolences to his family and may he rest in peace”, said Modrić.
