The first big Premier League derby brought us 45 minutes of atmospheric football and a game without a winner: Chelsea – Liverpool 1:1.
After a series of games in which the nets stood still when these two teams played, we finally got what the crowd comes to the stadiums for – goals.
Although we only saw two, there could have been many more. In the end, it seems that both teams are satisfied that they won a point, because in the very finish they could have been left with nothing. Darwin Nunez on one and Mihail Mudrik on the other could have become the heroes of the game in the last minutes, but they missed the victories for their teams.
The first half showed why the Premier League is the best in the world. Everything was shooting on both sides, the chances were becoming more and more frequent, and football hedonists could enjoy themselves.
Liverpool opened the match better and crowned a good game with Luis Diaz’s goal. The Colombian put an end to the magical action of the Reds. It all started with McAllister’s pass, and then Salah connected Diaz with a tele-controlled pass for the goal.
A new rush by Liverpool immediately followed – Salah scored a goal after another good combination of Klopp’s team, but VAR canceled the goal and thus woke up Chelsea. An offensive by the Blues followed, and Axel Disasi (Chelsea) equalized in the 37th minute. Debut and immediate goal for the new defender of the London team.
Two minutes later Alisson had to pull the ball out of the net as Chilwell hit the target, but VAR again disallowed the goal at Stamford Bridge.
The second half brought us a lullaby with occasional flurries. The finish itself brought the best chances, but the result remained unchanged.
