Thirty-four-year-old Barcelona footballer Sergio Busquets has announced the end of his career in the Spanish national team jersey.
The captain of the Spanish national team, Sergio Busquets, announced today that he has finished playing for the national team at the previous European and World Championships.
As he announced in his statements before leaving for Qatar, he thought about continuing his career with the national team after returning to his homeland but decided that it was time to retire.
The withdrawal of coach Luis Enrique had a big influence on his decision, so that Busquets will not play for Spain even in the final tournament of the League of Nations next summer in the Netherlands.
Busquets made his debut for the national team in 2009, when Del Bosque invited him to the team, along with Pique, for a friendly match with England.
He will not remember his last minutes in the national team jersey fondly because his penalty was saved by Morocco’s goalkeeper Bono in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
He played 143 games for the national team, scoring two goals. He took part in the 4th World Cup, where he played 17 matches. He also played in the third European Championship. He was the planetary champion in 2010 and the European champion in 2012.
