The whole world is waiting for the development of the situation regarding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, including his teammate and representative colleague Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes said today that he does not know if Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at Manchester United.
Ronaldo did not go with the team on the pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia for, as he stated, personal reasons.
New coach Eric ten Haag said that he is seriously counting on the Portuguese footballer this season. The club hope that Ronaldo will be back before the start of the Premier League on August 6.
- I don’t know what Cristiano said to the club and the coach. I don’t know what’s in his head, whether he wants to go. I didn’t ask him that. What we know is that he has some family problems and we have to respect his privacy, to give him space – said Fernandes.
Ronaldo was reportedly unhappy with the club’s ambitions and wants to play again in the Champions League, where he is the top scorer with 141 goals. United will play in the Europa League this season, having finished sixth in the Premier League, 35 points behind champions Manchester City.
United won 58 points, the fewest since the Premier League was founded in 1992.
- The only thing I asked Ronaldo was if everything is okay with the family. He told me what was happening, that’s it and nothing more – said Fernandes.
Ronaldo was the team’s top scorer last season with 24 goals.
The media recently reported that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes spent several weeks selling the “Cristiano Effect” to clubs, and provided interested parties with documentation about his client’s huge sponsorships, popularity on social networks and impact on new markets.
