Arteta Asserts Desire to Retain Ramsdale Despite Bench Role

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, despite losing his starting position to David Raya, is adamant about keeping England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at the club. Ramsdale, who won four caps for England, has faced limited playing time, making only three club appearances since early September.

Despite links with Newcastle, Arteta expressed his desire for Ramsdale to remain with Arsenal, emphasizing the value of having two exceptional goalkeepers.

“I want Aaron with us,” Arteta affirmed. “I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers, and Aaron is staying with us. We want to be better, so we want to add to what we already have. That’s the intention that we have.”

Ramsdale, who played every Premier League game in the 2022-23 season, found himself displaced by Raya in the current campaign.

Although Newcastle is reportedly monitoring the situation, Arteta remained non-committal about player exits in the January transfer window, stating, “I cannot guarantee that nobody is going to be leaving in January. For Newcastle or any other club. So it is a no.”
