Gżira United and Naxxar Lions played to a 1-1 draw in a match from the 360 Sports Malta Premier Opening Round Bottom 6 at the National Stadium on Saturday. Gzira now have a three-point lead over Marsaxlokk, while Naxxar are one point behind Melita and two points ahead of Balzan. However, Marsaxlokk, Melita, and Balzan all have a game in hand.
After a goalless first half, Gzira took the lead six minutes into the second half when Ryan Gilmour Cassar fouled Lecao inside the area. Gabriel Bohrer Mentz then converted the penalty to give Gzira the advantage.
However, in the 62nd minute, Naxxar equalized with a fantastic strike from Edson Farias outside the area, assisted by Takuma Yamaguchi on the right.
