Denmark produced a ruthless performance to dismantle Belarus and strengthen their grip on top spot in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers, maintaining a slender advantage over Scotland.
Victor Froholdt set the tone early on, opening the scoring in Hungary after just 14 minutes. Manchester United loanee Rasmus Højlund doubled the lead five minutes later before netting his second just before half-time.
There was still time for another United player, Patrick Dorgu, to make it 4–0 before the interval as Denmark completely overwhelmed their opponents in the first half.
The Danes eased off after the restart but continued to dominate possession, with Anders Dreyer adding two more goals to round off a commanding 6–0 victory.
Brian Riemer’s side registered 24 shots and completed 839 passes in a one-sided affair that leaves them top of the group with a five-goal advantage over Scotland.
Next up, Denmark host Greece, while Scotland take on bottom-placed Belarus in Glasgow. With just two rounds of fixtures remaining, the battle for automatic qualification looks set to go right down to the wire — culminating in Denmark’s final trip to face Scotland.
